Paul Gilbert and Freddie Nelson – United States – More Information

Paul Gilbert has released another CD, called United States!

New Info.:
I put this hard-to-find info. up, in the hopes that it enriches at least someone’s existence at some time, kind of like Paul’s music :).
This is very loosely translated (GoogleTranslate + some interpretation) — the stuff that I know is accurate is the numeric (time & date of the broadcast, station, etc.) and the set list, which was in English to begin with.
Enjoy!

Here is some additional information from Paul Gilbert (source is here) regarding the CD:

“Freddie and I grew up in the same small town in Pennsylvania. We had some mutual friends, so I often heard stories of his great guitar playing, but I moved to L.A. before I got a chance to meet him. A year or so ago, I went back to Pennsylvania to visit my dad. I met some of my old friends and band members from when I was a teenager, and one of them gave me a demo. I listened to it and thought, “Who is singing?! This is GREAT!”. The singer turned out to be Freddie Nelson. I was surprised because I always knew of Freddie as a guitar player. Of course the guitar playing on the demo was great too.

It is not every day that I discover an amazing singer/guitarist/writer/producer who is from my hometown, has similar musical influences and tastes, and is a cool and easy-going person. So I contacted Freddie and invited him to come out to L.A. for a couple of days to jam and write together.

A few days after I finished SFBADR, Freddie flew out and we wrote two songs in two days. (“The Answer” and “Waste of Time”)

I had lots of touring coming up, so we had to wait until the summer of 2008 to get together again and finish the album. Now it is done! I’m working on a European and U.S. release. I’ll keep you posted as I get dates.”

and a bit more information (from here)

“After making two instrumental guitar albums, I am thrilled to come back to vocal music with Freddie at the microphone. Spending some time with instrumental music allowed me to focus on my guitar and reach a higher level than ever before. I wanted to keep that high level of focus on my guitar playing for this record, so it was great having Freddie handling the vocals, co-writing the songs, and co-producing.

We chose the title “United States” to reflect our united “states of mind” while working together. And of course it is the country where we live.”
